Getting accepted brought a whirlwind of emotions! When I applied I was applied for the Professional Internships and the Disney College Program. I was really hoping for the PI since I thought I was qualified. Disney didn't think so. I was immediately NLIC'd within 2 minutes. So when I applied for the DCP I assumed I was definitely going to be getting my preferred role (again having the qualifications). Again Disney didn't think so.
I submitted my application and thus began the waiting game. I waited. I got an email saying they got my application. I waited. I got an email inviting me to complete a web interview. I completed that. I waited. I waited. I got an email inviting me to schedule a phone interview. I got very excited and did that and then waited for the day to come. Then I waited some more (the minutes seemed to slow down!). That was done. I waited. People got accepted. I waited. More people got accepted for the roles I wanted. I waited. I waited. I waited. I waited. I waited. I waited. Until finally I got an email! I saw my email when I finished student teaching that day I was so excited to open it and I saw that I had been accepted! My first time applying and it was a dream come true!!!! I drove hope singing and bouncing and I couldn't be any happier. I stopped at Walmart (still bouncing) picked up a pumpkin (it was October) and some Sharpies and before I got out of the car to go into the house I wrote down some Disney quotes on the pumpkin as a way of telling my mom. I still didn't know my role since I needed my Dorms password that was saved onto my laptop. But I was too excited to keep it from her. I told her and I had to wait to find out my role since in my excitement I mistyped in my login info and got locked out of Dorms for a bit.
Then everything came crashing down! I got QSFB! My ideal role was children's activities. My major for undergrad was elementary education (3.9 GPA), graduate major was special elementary education (4.0 GPA), all my work experience is with children, and all we talked about during my phone interview is experience with children. I say all this not to brag, but to say that I do believe myself qualified for the role. I thought for sure I would be with children or at least my second choice: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique!!! I was devastated!! I thought about not accepting and just applying for a teaching job after graduation and beginning my career in January.
But then I decided that I would still be able to have a wonderful experience, learn a new skill, gain knowledge, make friends, and enjoy the DCP. So I decided to take a chance and go the distance! I can't wait to start my journey on the DCP!
